What does “Chartered Financial Planner” mean?

Chartered status is awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and is considered the “gold standard” financial planning accreditation. Chartered status is a symbol of technical competence and signifies a public commitment to upholding professional standards and adhering to a professional Code of Ethics.

What does “Certified Financial Planner™” mean?

The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) accreditation is recognised globally as the “gold standard” for financial planning professionals.

It is awarded by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and is only granted where the holder can demonstrate they meet rigorous international competency, ethical and professional practice standards.

About Lisa

Lisa has worked in financial services since 1989 and has been part of the Chesterton House team for over 17 years. With Chartered and Certified Financial Planner status, she provides trusted, independent advice to clients across the East Midlands, specialising in retirement planning, strategic financial planning, and pensions and divorce.

Lisa takes a highly personal approach to financial planning. She loves hearing about how clients are spending their time—especially when it involves a long-held goal that’s been planned and achieved together. Her calm and thoughtful style helps clients feel understood and supported, whatever their stage of life or level of complexity.

Lisa believes strongly in the value of long-term relationships built on trust and mutual respect, guiding clients to get their entire financial house in order and achieve a great life.

Qualifications

FPC (Financial Planning Certificate)
A recognition offered by the Chartered Insurance Institute in the United Kingdom. Individuals who hold this qualification have satisfied coursework and testing requirements set by the organisation.
AFPC (Advanced Financial Planning Certificate)
To have completed this qualification, individuals were required to obtain three units. These could have been selected from any combination of the available units at that time but must have included the compulsory G10 unit - Taxation and Trusts.
DipPFS (Diploma in Financial Planning)
This level 4 diploma meets the FCA’s qualification requirements for retail investment advisers, demonstrating core technical knowledge and financial planning capabilities across six core areas.
Cert CII (MP) (Certificate in Mortgage Advice)
The Level 3 Certificate in Mortgage Advice meets the FCA’s qualification requirements for mortgage advisers. It develops an understanding of the sector and the mortgage process, enabling advisers to meet individual client needs.
CF8 (Certificate in Financial Planning and Long-Term Care Insurance)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK regulation environment in the financial services industry, long-term care insurance products and the giving of long-term care insurance advice.
Cert CII (ER) (Certificate in Equity Release)
The Level 3 Certificate in Equity Release meets the FCA’s requirement for mortgage advisers and those advising on equity release schemes. In addition to developing advisory skills, the Certificate offers an understanding of equity release regulation, products, market practice, and customer needs.
CertCII (Life and Pensions) Certificate in Financial Planning (Life & Pensions route)
The life and pensions route builds knowledge and understanding of the sector’s role and its activities. It considers important customer needs, solutions and products, and how individuals and organisations work within the regulatory and legislative environment.
Level 3 Award in Long Term Care Insurance
This level 3 award develops the knowledge and understanding of long-term care cover, including legal, taxation and regulatory issues and the responsibilities of local authorities.
Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning
This qualification enables professional advisers to develop specialist planning capabilities and covers topics like personal tax and trust, business financial, pension and investment planning.
