How the Chesterton House Foundation is Supporting Kala Arts CIC

For marginalised young people in Leicester, opportunities to get outdoors and be creative aren’t always easy to come by. Kala Arts CIC is working to change that, one workshop at a time.

The Chesterton House Foundation has awarded Kala Arts CIC a £1,000 grant, which will fund a series of creative environmental workshops for marginalised young people across Leicester and the wider East Midlands.

Creativity and the outdoors, together

Kala Arts CIC is a Leicester-based Community Interest Company, working with young people in areas of high deprivation to combine creative practice with environmental engagement. The workshops give participants a chance to build confidence and try something new, while spending time outdoors and connecting with the world around them.

As a CIC, all of Kala Arts’ income is reinvested back into the community. The grant funding will help keep sessions free for participants, removing a barrier that might otherwise stop young people taking part.

Why we chose to support Kala Arts

The Foundation looks for organisations doing meaningful work in our local community, where funding makes a direct and visible difference. Kala Arts’ approach: using creativity and the outdoors to support young people who might otherwise miss out — is exactly the kind of grassroots work we want to back.
