How the Chesterton House Foundation is Supporting the Charnwood Toy Library

Play is at the heart of childhood, encouraging creativity, learning, and social skills. That’s why The Chesterton House Foundation is proud to support Charnwood Toy Library (formerly Shepshed Toy Library) as they embark on an exciting new chapter.

The Toy Library has long been a valuable resource for families, providing access to a wide range of toys that support development and play. Now, with a move to Fearon Hall Community Centre in Loughborough, the service is poised to reach even more families—particularly those in areas of high deprivation who may otherwise struggle to access quality toys. Fearon Hall is already a thriving community hub, and the Toy Library will add to the vital services available to local families.

Overcoming Challenges and Seizing Opportunities

Although the Toy Library’s long-term model is designed to be self-sustaining, relocating to a new community brings both challenges and opportunities. As they establish themselves in Fearon Hall and build connections with local families, our £1,000 grant will help them continue providing their much-loved service and ensuring more children can benefit from the power of play.

Empowering Children Through Play

Toys are more than just a source of fun; they play a crucial role in child development. By supporting this transition, we’re helping to ensure that more families can access affordable, high-quality toys for years to come. We’re also excited about the Toy Library’s future plans, which include exploring ways to expand across Charnwood and collaborating with organisations like Charnwood Eco Hub to highlight the environmental benefits of reusing toys.

A Bright Future

With a dedicated team of trustees and volunteers, and the warm support of the Fearon Hall community, Charnwood Toy Library is well-positioned for success. We’re delighted to play a small part in their journey and look forward to seeing the positive impact on local families.
