How the Chesterton House Foundation is Supporting Revive Healthy Living

For a child who’s lost a parent, or one caring for a family member instead of being cared for themselves, Christmas can be a difficult reminder of what’s different about their lives. Revive Healthy Living wants those children to know they haven’t been forgotten.

The Chesterton House Foundation has awarded Revive Healthy Living a £1,000 grant, supporting its Secret Santa appeal for children and young people across Chaddesden, Oakwood, Spondon, and Derby city.

Reaching the children who need it most

Secret Santa provides gifts, educational materials, sensory toys, footwear, IT equipment, and coats to children referred by teachers, health professionals, or social care. Referrals include bereaved children living with extended family, and young carers looking after parents who are disabled, living with a life-limiting or terminal illness, or supported by social care.

This year, Revive expects more than 700 referrals, reflecting the pressure the cost of living crisis and rising disadvantage are placing on local families.

More than a gift

Revive’s team has seen first-hand what a well-chosen gift can mean. One young boy once asked for football boots, hoping to join a team. He got his boots, and he did join a team, going on to play regularly in the years that followed.

It’s a small example of what Secret Santa does. For many children, it offers respite, reassurance, and a reminder that someone is thinking of them, at a time when that can make all the difference.

The Foundation looks for organisations doing meaningful work in our local community, where funding makes a direct and visible difference. Revive’s Secret Santa appeal reaches some of the most disadvantaged children in Derby, at a time of year when they need support the most.
